Publication Ethics
The publication of articles in Manhajuna: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Fiqih Kontemporer that are peer-reviewed constitutes an essential element in the development of a coherent and reputable scientific knowledge network in the field of Islamic law and contemporary fiqh. Scholarly publication directly reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions that support them. Articles that undergo peer review support and uphold the application of scientific methods. Therefore, it is crucial to establish ethical standards expected of all parties involved in the publication process, namely authors, journal editors, reviewers, publishers, and the academic community. This publication ethics statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
STIT Buntet Pesantren, as the publisher of Manhajuna: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Fiqih Kontemporer, exercises oversight responsibilities at all stages of publication with seriousness and acknowledges the ethical and academic responsibilities inherent in this process. The publisher is committed to ensuring that advertisements, reprints, or other commercial revenues do not influence or interfere with editorial decisions. The Editorial Board will also assist in communication with other journals and/or publishers when necessary and relevant.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
Editors of Manhajuna are responsible for deciding which manuscripts are eligible for publication. Scientific validity, originality, and significance for the advancement of Islamic law and contemporary fiqh must always serve as the primary basis for editorial decisions. Editors are guided by the journal’s editorial board policies and must comply with applicable legal provisions regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. In carrying out their duties, editors may consult with other editors or reviewers.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, political views, institutional affiliation, or the authors’ background.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, prospective reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used by editors for their own research or personal advantage without the author’s explicit written consent.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and, through academic communication, helps authors improve the quality of their articles.
Promptness
Any reviewer who feels unqualified to review a manuscript or knows that a timely review will not be possible should promptly notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without the editor’s permission.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively and academically. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers must express their views clearly, supported by arguments and justifiable reasoning.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. They must also inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published works.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Information or ideas obtained through the peer-review process must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must present their research accurately, honestly, and objectively. Data and findings should be reported properly and sufficiently to allow replication. Fraudulent, manipulative, or unethical statements are unacceptable.
Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide relevant raw data and should retain research data for a reasonable period after publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their submitted work is entirely original. Any use of others’ work or ideas must be properly cited. All forms of plagiarism are unacceptable.
Multiple or Redundant Publication
Authors must not submit or publish the same research in more than one journal simultaneously.
Authorship of the Article
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the author list and that all authors have approved the final version of the article.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their research and clearly state all sources of funding.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.
