Author Guidelines

Manhajuna: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Fiqih Kontemporer

1. Scope and Focus of the Journal

Manhajuna: Journal of Islamic Law and Contemporary Fiqh accepts scholarly articles in the form of research findings or conceptual studies related to Islamic law and contemporary fiqh, including but not limited to:

  • Islamic family law
  • Social fiqh and contemporary fiqh
  • Islamic economic law
  • Islamic criminal law and Islamic judiciary
  • Fiqh siyasah and Islamic constitutional law
  • The relationship between Islamic law and national law
  • Gender issues, justice, and human rights from the perspective of Islamic law
  • Socio-religious dynamics and the practice of Islamic law in society

Submitted articles must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals.

2. General Manuscript Requirements

  • Manuscript length: 5,000–10,000 words, including tables and references
  • Paper size: A4, with 3 cm margins on all sides
  • Font: Book Antiqua, single spacing
  • Language: Indonesian (mandatory), with abstracts in both Indonesian and English
  • Manuscript format: single column

3. Manuscript Structure

A. Title and Author Identity

  • Title: maximum 15 words, Book Antiqua 15 pt, bold
  • The title must reflect the formal object, material object, and research context
  • Author names without academic titles
  • Institutional affiliation and author email must be fully provided
  • Corresponding author marked with (*)

B. Abstract and Keywords

Abstract:

  • Written in a single paragraph (150–200 words)
  • Font: Book Antiqua 9 pt, single spacing, justified
  • Must include:
    • Research urgency
    • Research gap
    • Type and context of the study
    • Data collection techniques
    • Data analysis methods
    • Novel findings (novelty)
    • Research recommendations
  • Must not include citations, tables, figures, or unexplained abbreviations

Keywords:

  • Minimum 3 and maximum 5 terms
  • Separated by semicolons (;)

C. Introduction

Written in Book Antiqua 11 pt, single spacing, structured into four components using the CARS Model:

  1. Establishing a Research Territory (context and urgency)
  2. Establishing a Niche (review of prior studies and research gap)
  3. Justifying the Gap (critical evaluation of previous studies)
  4. Occupying the Niche (research objectives, questions, and/or hypotheses)

D. Research Method

The method section must be written narratively and systematically, including:

  • Type and approach of the research
  • Data sources
  • Population and sample
  • Data collection techniques
  • Data analysis techniques

Authors are encouraged to visualize the research flow using diagrams or research stage charts.

E. Results and Discussion

1. Results

Presented factually and analytically, including:

  • Description of the issue/phenomenon
  • Influencing factors
  • Implications of research findings

2. Discussion

Must be argumentative and include:

  • Summary of findings
  • Reflection on findings
  • Interpretation of findings
  • Comparison with previous studies
  • Conceptual, methodological, or policy recommendations

F. Conclusion

The conclusion must consist of three paragraphs:

  1. Answers to the research objectives or questions
  2. Theoretical, methodological, or conceptual contributions
  3. Limitations and recommendations for future research

4. Data Visualization

Authors are encouraged to use:

  • Tables
  • Figures
  • Infographics
  • Direct interview quotations

Each visual element must include a title, source, and clear description in accordance with journal formatting.

5. Additional Statements

  • Author Contribution Statement (optional)
  • Conflict of Interest Statement (mandatory)
  • Research Funding (if applicable)

6. References

  • Minimum of 40 references
  • 80% must be primary sources (journal articles and academic books)
  • Published within the last 10 years
  • Citation style: APA Style 7th Edition
  • Recommended tools: Mendeley or Zotero

7. Review Process

Manhajuna implements a double-blind peer review process involving two reviewers in relevant fields of expertise. Each manuscript undergoes initial screening, substantive review, revision, and final decision by the editor.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All manuscripts submitted to Manhajuna: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Fiqih Kontemporer must meet the following requirements before proceeding to the review process. Authors are requested to ensure that all statements below have been fulfilled:

The submitted manuscript complies with the Manhajuna Author Guidelines in terms of article structure, journal style, and formatting.

The manuscript has not been previously published and is not currently under review or consideration by any other journal.

All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness and are formatted according to APA Style 7th Edition using reference management software (Mendeley/Zotero).

All tables, figures, and illustrations are properly numbered, provided with clear titles/captions, and consistently cited within the text.

The author has obtained written permission for the use and publication of all photographs, data, figures, or other materials included in the manuscript, if such materials originate from third parties.

To be accepted and published in Manhajuna: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Fiqih Kontemporer, authors submitting manuscripts are required to follow and complete all stages of the peer-review process established by the journal. By submitting a manuscript, authors are deemed to have agreed to the following terms:

The copyright of articles that are accepted and published is transferred to Manhajuna: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Fiqih Kontemporer as the journal publisher. This transfer of copyright includes the right to publish and disseminate the article in various forms and media, including but not limited to print, electronic, and reprint versions.

Manhajuna: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Fiqih Kontemporer retains the publishing rights to all published articles.

Authors are permitted to disseminate their published articles by sharing the official link or DOI available on the Manhajuna: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Fiqih Kontemporer website.
