Peer Review Process

Foreign Language Instruction Probe is a peer-reviewed journal published twice yearly since 2022.

1. Manuscripts submitted to this journal should be written in English and address its main focus and scope, teaching and learning English as a foreign language and its related issues.

2. The journal primarily accepts original-research-based manuscripts for publication and only a small proportion of non-research papers.

3. All submitted manuscripts are subject to stages of the editorial process, including a double-blind review process.

4. Once a manuscript is submitted to the journal through an online submission process, an assigned section editor will do an initial screening to examine the eligibility of the manuscript for a full review process (for example, whether it complies with the focus and scope of the journal). If it passes the initial screening, the manuscript will be blindly reviewed by two reviewers, and a third reviewer may be added in case the two reviewers have differing opinions on the review results.

5. Considering review reports by the peer reviewers, the journal editorial board will finally deliberate on the final decision, whether to accept or reject the manuscript.

This journal operates a conventional double-blind reviewing policy in which the reviewer's name is always concealed from the submitting author. Authors should present their papers honestly without fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or inappropriate data manipulation. Submitted papers are evaluated by anonymous referees for contribution, originality, relevance, and presentation. Papers will be sent for anonymous review by at least two reviewers who will either be members of the Editorial Board or others of similar standing in the field. In order to shorten the review process and respond quickly to authors, the editors may triage a submission and come to a decision without sending the paper for external review. The editor shall inform you of the results of the review as soon as possible, hopefully in 8 weeks. The editors’ decision is final, and no correspondence can be entered into concerning manuscripts considered unsuitable for publication in this journal. All correspondence, including notification of the editors’ decision and requests for revisions, will be sent by email.
